BOWLS: Monto Rotary Club and Ridgehaven Retirement Complex accepted cheques of $500 from the Monto Bowls Club Jackpot Joker.

Monto's Grand Hotel has been raising money from its Friday night Jackpot Jokers for the bowls club to distribute.

Grand Hotel Publican Doug O'Sullivan said they wanted it set up so the bowls club could help run fundraisers for other organisations.

"The Jackpot Jokers are not-for-profit, so every time there's some money in the kitty, it gets passed on to clubs in the town,” O'Sullivan said.

Rotary Club president Neal Darlington said the donation would help with the town Christmas party, which in turn would go back toward the town.

Bob Kerr accepted the cheque for Ridgehaven on behalf of his wife Colleen, president of the Ridgehaven Residents and Friends association.

"It will be spent to make things just a little bit easier for them,” Kerr said.
